Sustainability

Sustainability is a strategically important issue for Nordic Drives Group, and we have a long-term commitment to promote and contribute to a sustainable society.

Nordic Drives Group stands behind UN's Sustainable Development Goals

Nordic Drives Group stands behind the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and is focusing on 3 of them.

8. Decent work and economic growth

Our business is aligned with the need for improving resource efficiency in consumption and production. We are conscious when choosing partners who promote sustainability and a good work environment.

9. Industry, innovation and infrastructure

With our service and OEM business, we are focussing on energy-efficient solutions with new technology and with our international partners supporting sustainable innovations to bring to the industry.

12. Responsible consumption and production

A big part of our work is to service and maintain electric motors and associated products, in order to prolong their lifetime. This means we are reducing the use of natural resources which is one of the most complex challenges we are facing as ”world citizens”.

We reduce the amount of energy required to provide products and services

It’s all about doing more with less. Electric motors are the single biggest consumer of electricity. They account for about two-thirds of industrial power consumption and about 45% of global power consumption. By 2040 the number of electric motors is estimated to double.

Energy efficiency is the quickest and most affordable way to decarbonize our economy and ensure reliable and sustainable energy for everyone on the planet. More than 40% of the CO2 emission reductions needed to meet the Paris Agreement can come from energy efficiency, with another 36% from a switch to renewables.

Our clients reduce, reuse, repair, and recycle

Our clients are smart and responsible. They make choices that increase resource and energy efficiency, improve the environment, and reduce leakage throughout the product and service lifecycle.

What many of our smart clients do

  • Opt for maintenance and repair of installed machinery, given the large cost of replacing electric motors
  • Use frequency converters enabling automation, improved motor life span and energy efficiency, and system integration
  • Replace rather than renovate smaller standard motors
  • Buy services instead of having their own service organization
  • Invest in high-quality electrical motors for high energy efficiency and economic savings over the product's lifetime
  • Choose full-service preventive maintenance and repair of key electrical components
  • Do maintenance and repairs of existing components and machinery to reduce the replacement rate
  • Install frequency converters, making production facilities more energy efficient as they calibrate power consumption and production capacity
  • Calibrate electrical components and machinery for lower levels of component erosion and damage, resulting in a longer component lifetime and reducing the rate at which components are replaced
