At Hirtshals El-Motorservice ApS, we have always highly valued a good relationship with our customers. Therefore, we set a high standard for customer service, and we consequently have a great many customers who have used our services for many years. Naturally, we also offer 24/7 service should unforeseen problems arise outside of business hours. Likewise, we offer day-to-day delivery on most of our products.
One of our specialized areas is the refurbishment of electric motors and generators. Over the years, we have acquired in-depth knowledge regarding their refurbishment. We troubleshoot, refurbish, and repair generators in the marine sector – just as we also have customers within power plants and biogas plants. In addition, we repair pumps and prepare new pumps for service.
Furthermore, we have a team of specialists for the rewinding of wind turbine generators. It is often more cost-effective – and faster – to have a new rewinding performed rather than investing in a new wind turbine generator. Following the rewinding, we can offer a VPI (Vacuum Pressure Impregnation) varnishing of the unit. This type of varnishing extends the lifespan and simultaneously strengthens the insulation properties of the unit. The mechanical vibrations in the wind turbine generator are reduced, as is the noise level.
Hirtshals El-Motorservice ApS can also align generators, electric motors, and pumps using advanced laser alignment equipment. Proper alignment increases the lifespan of bearings, couplings, etc. Additionally, losses due to heat generation in the coupling and bearings are minimized, resulting in better efficiency.
Wind turbine generators
We have extensive experience in rewinding wind turbine generators. As a new addition to our services, we are highly successful in repairing hotspots in stator cores. We can also assist in sourcing functional generators to replace defective units.
Following rewinding, the wind turbine generator will always receive a protective VPI (Vacuum Pressure Impregnation) varnishing in our facility. Among other benefits, this extends the lifespan, eliminates voids and air bubbles in the windings, provides optimal protection against external influences such as dust, moisture, etc., and reduces mechanical vibrations as well as noise levels.
A service report is prepared after every job.

If we assess that refurbishing your generator/motor is not cost-effective, we naturally have a large inventory to pull from, ensuring your production does not grind to a halt.

With our many years of experience in the field, we can often source the right type of wind turbine generator for your wind turbine if an issue arises. This includes the following turbine brands, among others:

VPI system
We offer VPI (Vacuum Pressure Impregnation) varnishing for electric motors, generators, and transformers, among other equipment. VPI varnishing is an insulation process that takes place under a vacuum followed by pressure, ensuring the best possible penetration of the varnish into the windings.
There are many benefits to VPI varnishing:
- 8–10 times the thickness of standard varnishing with a single VPI treatment
- Extended lifespan
- Insulation Class H – enhanced insulation properties
- Elimination of voids and air bubbles in the windings
- Optimal protection against external influences such as oil, moisture, salt, and chemicals
- Increased load capacity
- Reduction of mechanical vibrations and noise levels
- Optimal thermal conductivity, lowering the temperature of the unit
- Reduced risk of loose windings
Within wind energy, the VPI method is highly respected and widely used – but VPI varnishing is certainly also relevant for generators, electric motors, and transformers in general.
